How do invites work?

A circle owner sends you an invite link. Tap it, and you'll see the circle's name and who's in it before you join. Nothing is shared until you turn sharing on yourself. Invite links expire after a while, so ask for a fresh one if yours has gone stale.

How do I stop sharing my location?

One tap. Open Placie and switch sharing off for that circle — it takes effect immediately, and your location disappears from the map. You can also leave a circle entirely, which stops sharing with it right away.

Does Placie show my location live, all the time?

Placie shows your latest known location, not a constant realtime feed. Phones limit how often apps can update in the background — that protects your battery, and we think it's the honest way to build this. Every marker on the map shows when it was last updated, so you always know how fresh it is.

Will Placie drain my battery?

It's designed not to. Placie updates more often when the map is open and you're moving, and much less when you're still or the app is in the background. It also respects your phone's low power mode.

Which phones does Placie work on?

iPhone and Android — and they work together. One person on iPhone, another on Android, everyone in the same circle on the same map.

Who can see my location?

Only members of circles where you've turned sharing on. Placie always shows you the full list of who can see you, and you can stop sharing or leave a circle at any time.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, go to Settings and tap "Delete account and data." That removes your account and the data we hold for it. If you can't get into the app, email support@placie.net from the address on your account and we'll take care of it. Full details are on the Delete account page.

How do I reset my password?

On the sign-in screen, tap "Forgot password?" and we'll email you a link to set a new one.
